Travel Tips and Reminders

Here are a few tips and reminders to keep in mind when traveling from Chiang Mai to Pai or vice versa:

  1. The journey takes around 4 hours on a curvy mountain road with many bends and turns. If you are prone to motion sickness, it’s best to choose a seat at the front of the van when booking your ticket.
  2. Arrive at the bus station early to load your luggage in the back of the van. Once the luggage compartment is full, any additional bags will be placed on the roof of the van, which can get wet during rain.
  3. During the high travel season from November to February, tickets can be difficult to obtain and may even be sold out. To avoid disappointment, plan ahead and book your tickets in advance if you are planning to travel to Pai or Chiang Mai during these months.
